PPC Hero Blog: The Ultimate Guide to Google Adwords Quality Score


We have talked in class before about how important it is to have a good quality score. This article talked about different types, what's a good score and what's not, and then some misconceptions. The article said that from Google's point of view, Quality Score matters because it represents the relevance of your ads to users' search queries. Google, being the largest search engine, uses the Quality Score in order to ensure that the ads users are seeing are relevant to their search queries. We talked in class about how important it is for your Google Ad to show relevancy and a good quality score, otherwise, the Ad may not be shown as much or when it should be shown. Last class we were able to do an activity with Landing pages and we looked at what made a good landing page. This article talked about the Landing Page Quality Score, and that the quality score is important for both the advertiser and Google. Google wants the score to be good so the users will find it relevant and useful, but the advertisers want a good score too so that their users will use it and get a good ROI. I just found it interesting in these articles how important the quality score really is, and it really isn’t something Google users think about, but it is really important for the Google ads to have a good score.

I listened to Social Pros: How Purple Became the Most Effective Advertiser on Facebook. Alisa, the social advertising director from Purple, laid out what Purple does when it comes to advertising on Facebook. Her first thing was that she described what their ads were supposed to look like. She described them as being funny, wacky, and really working on their entertainment side, more than the direct response focus, like their competitors often do. Most of their short videos are played on Facebook and YouTube, but she also talked about how Purple was the first mattress company to have short videos on Pinterest. We talked briefly in class about keywords, and Alisa talked about how Pinterest really was good for them because they were able to link a ton of keywords to their mattress and get photos of families on their mattresses and then they were able to use those to re-pin to their boards. Social Pros Podcast: Non-Obvious 2019 Trends for Social Media and Beyond

Rohit Bhargava, the founder and chief trend curator of Non-Obvious Company, first talks about the new Gillette ad that currently trending. He said that last year there was a trend that came about called "ungendered," which meant that gender matters less now than it had in the past. This year though, they focused on masculinity and who men want to be and who they want their sons to be. He said the Gillette's ad had a point of view with a question instead of an answer, but people really want the answer and no one can really make that happen now.
